Iron Man 2 suitcase suit research sketch
Photoshop
One of the drawings I did while working on IM2 for Double Negative vfx. I was trying here to find an interesting layout for the look of the unfolded suitcase.
(Pencil, then inked, and colored in photoshop)

Awesome work Philippe! What a cool project to be involved in. The concept looks awesome and all the little details are great. What I'd give to see the full version printed out!

(Thanks for the sharing your tips with your reply to gpepper. So helpful!)

Thanks Bounce.
Actually, if you want to see the printed version of this suitcase and a few others that I've made for IM2, just check out "The Art of Iron Man 2" . It is listed under "Double Negative" and not my name as the company's name prevails :(
It was great to get published in such a great book anyway :)
You will also find in the book some great work that Dneg has done on the film and of course, tons of really cool concept art. Oh, and by the way, I don't get any profits in the book's sales if you were wondering about it :)

Cheers,

Philippe

Thanks gpepper.
I have made a few sketches of this open suitcase before coloring this one in.
The simplicity of the coloring is probably what makes it look 3D despite the perspective which is far from perfect here :) If you don't overdo it with too many colours or gratuitous effects and if you add to that a very clear and strong light direction in your painting, you'll get that sort of result.

Cheers,

Philippe
