The Return

This is a design of a demonic character I made back in the Summer. The context of this particular still is that he's just returned to a place of great significance to him, which is in ruins. I used 3dsMax, Zbrush and Photoshop. Enjoy (I hope) :)

Cracking Work

Really Like the design. The anatomy is very well done around the chest into the arm, and the detailing under the cheek is nice. The subtle hairs are a really nice touch. if I was to criticise, I'd maybe alter the grey abdomen fixings, and rearrange the composition.
Strong Points:Anatomy and Design
Looking Awesome

Overall, this is looking really cool, I love the model, lighting/shading and texture work.
Strong Points:Great model, texturing and shaders
Weak Points:Composition, posing, abdomen tweaks
Recommendations:I agree with the other comments you have received about the composition, maybe just pulling the camera down lower so that it looks up at the character will make him appear more imposing. I also think you could add more to the posing of the model - adjusting the feet so that they are not on the same axis and having the left hand really clutching onto the cape, maybe more of an expression on the face too? I am also unsure as to what the light grey elements on the abdomen are? maybe some more detail could be used here to explain how they are attached.
Wonderful work

I really like these evil, diabolic, lava themed images, it reminds me of places like Mordor or some areas from World of Warcraft where absolute evil lies. Love the theme in general and I think you did a very good job creating an image which represents it.
Strong Points:The overall look of the image is very realistic and I feel this evil, diabolic environment that you set him in. The anatomy is very good, as well as the flesh shader you have used looks really good in my opinion.
Weak Points:I think the composition could be a bit better. The demon's cape confused me a bit, I did not realize what it was because it kind of blends together with the left hand. At first glance I thought he had this big paw, but then realized what it was. The pillar to the left is a bit disturbing as well, but these aren't very big issues.
Recommendations:A bit more work on the layout/composition of your images would make them better I think.

Really good composite and great modelling.
Strong Points:Really great character model. I love the tiny hairs you put on the shoulder and the back. Gives it a better sense of realism unlike some models where this is opted out. Scenic work is good too.
Weak Points:Could do with a bit more rubble in the scene and to me it seems you have too much "white light" making it seem like he is standing in daylight then in an ash darkened sky.
Recommendations:Bring more red light onto him and less white like you have with the pillars behind. Darken the main light slightly giving a more dramatic feel.
Great demonic lord !

I can't wait to see other models !
Strong Points:I think you really achieved "the return to a place of great signifiance".
The character is really awesome and the ruins are really nice too.

Weak Points:In my opinion, the background doesn't make your lighting feeling right. The rim light is too strong and the shadow direction seems not be in right place.
Last point, I think the character should be more centered in the composition.

Recommendations:I think you should work on the background and also on the composition in order to respect the rule of thirds.
good work but crank it up a notch!

This piece really caught my eye and as I have said in my title you may want to consider exploiting the dramatic elements, which, judging by what you have already, you won't have any problem in achieving. Nice one!
Strong Points:Really like this character and this idea. The sculpt is good and I like the characters expression. Textures are good and I think the cloth is well executed.
Like the background setting.
Like the background setting.
Weak Points:The context of the image wasn't obvious to me. Space at the top of the image could be better used.
Recommendations:More drama as in a more dynamic pose, more dynamic cloth flapping, more suggestion of destruction throughout the image, on the ground and perhaps on him. Lighting is a bit flat - consider more dramatic lighting and shadows. Have a look at the work of Brtish Painter John Martin.
