Sony has just announced that they will be bringing Popeye to life in 3D. The film will be released under the Sony Pictures Animation label, with Sony Pictures ImageWorks handling the computer animation. Avi Arad, who teamed with Sony to turn Spider-Man into a powerhouse franchise, is producing. Scribe Mike Jones is in negotiations to adapt.

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA) announced today that Academy-Award® winning actor Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds will both star in its pre-historic themed 3D CG animated comedy adventure "The Croods." Cage will play the leader and protector of his family, and Reynolds will portray an outsider whose new ideas challenge the patriarch's authority.
