1ST Place prize list:
What the Judges are looking for:
The Student of the Year will be awarded to the artist the judging panel believes showcases the best overall skills, both creatively and techincally. They will not just be looking for the best "all-rounder" but simply a talented artist that showcases exceptional skill and talent in one or more of the CGSA categories.

1ST Place prize list:
What the Judges are looking for:
The Judges will be looking for a strong spatial awareness, good sense of form and proportion, and a keen eye for detail. They will also be looking for models ranging from ones organic in nature, such as creatures or characters, to rigid objects such as cars, buildings, props or sets. Your work should also display an understanding of topology and building good models for texture painters and riggers

What the Judges are looking for:
A texture artist needs strong visual skills, and a good eye for detail, scale, composition, colour and form. The judges will be looking for examples of high quality textures that compliment both the model and it's shader/material qualities. They would also be looking for a combination of both hand-painted textures and textures created using reference photography, paintings, books and architecture as source material. From a technical point of view they will also be looking out for clean texture maps with no stretching, obvious seams or inadequate resolution.

What the Judges are looking for:
Our judging team will be looking for artists with a solid creative and technical knowledge. They will be interested in seeing clever and well executed examples of rigs for props, creatures and characters. If possible, make sure to show video screen captures of someone using the rig controls and interface, or someone using scripts or tools you created.

What the Judges are looking for:
The panel will be looking for an artist with a good eye for detail, shading, and colour. They will be interested in seeing examples of work for different lighting conditions. Where possible, attempt to showcase your understanding and knowledge of art, design and film lighting too. They will also be looking for high quality renders indicating a solid technical grounding in commonly available rendering systems. If applicable to your studies, the panel will also be interested in seeing examples of integrating cg elements into live-action plates.

What the Judges are looking for:
The judges be looking for examples of believable animation with convincing performances and motion. They will be judging all the key aspects of animation including balance, timing, weight and the overall polish of your animation. Animators work with more than just characters and creatures, so don't forget to show off your prop animations too.

What the Judges are looking for:
FX covers a wide variety of elements and techniques. The judging panel will be looking for artists to showcase their skills when using particles, dynamics, fluids, solvers, hair and other FX related skills. Where possible, the judges would like to see the breakdown of elements used to create FX.

What the Judges are looking for:
As compositing is about the combining of visual elements from separate sources into single images, the judging panel will be mostly interested in seeing a breakdown of how you have built your scenes and workflows. Examples of both live-action work and full cg shots if preferred but not essential.

What the Judges are looking for:
No game, movie or animation could do without these talented artists. Concept art is a form of illustration where the main goal is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood before it is put into the final product. Our judging panel will be looking for high quality examples of concept art and visual development for creatures, characters, environments and props. Feel free to provide time-lapse video screen capture of your concept art process. Don't be afraid to show quick sketches, or wip examples of your work.

The School of the Year will be awarded to the Training Facility that has the highest number of finalists and category winners from all sections of this event.

What the Judges are looking for:
This categoriy is Judged by the community! It will be based on a simple star based voting system. The finalist with the highest score at the end of the voting timeline will take home these prizes. More information will be provided on how to vote when the finalists are announced.
