Final Submission Guidelines 1 Year, 1 Month ago
1. Upload the following items to your Creatures and Critters Forum thread.
  • Image 1: Model Render
  • Image 2: Concept and Process
  • Turntable movie
2. Send a Private message to Admin to officially announce your entry.

--------------------------------------
Image 1: Model Render
This image is to showcase a single render of your final model in the best way possible.

Technical Requirements - JPG image, PORTRAIT ORIENTATION ONLY, not landscape, 1024(high) x 722 (wide)pixels.

  • High quality render of any single viewpoint of your model.
  • Can be rendered using any application with any camera lens and angle.
  • Only 1 material, matcap, or shader can be used for all the your objects.
  • Any background or graphic text can be used (this is not part of the judging process though)
  • We recommend using lighting techniques that help show all your model details, rather than strong lighting that hides detail in shadows.

Image 2: Concept and Process
This image is to help showcase your design process from concept to final image. You have complete creative control with this image. Judging is based on the final model output, not Image 2: Concept and Process. This is for supporting purposes only, to help judges get an overview of how you work and to summarise your time working in the forum.

Technical Requirements
- JPG image, PORTRAIT ORIENTATION ONLY, not landscape, 1024(high) x 722(wide) pixels.

  • Must include your original concept
  • Can include other render views not shown in "Image 1: Model render"
  • Allowed to include any photo reference or inspiration that helped you create your final model
  • Should include images showing your progress eg: base mesh, screengrabs, early tests
  • Layout and design of this image is completely up to you.
  • Any additinoal background or graphic text can be used (this is not part of the judging process though)
  • Any number of images can be used to help support the presentation of this image
  • You may include textured versions of your model in this image, but the textures will not be included as part of the judges vote

Turntable Movie
The turntable movie must be created to help showcase your final model.

Technical Requirements - Must be uploaded and hosted @ Veoh.com or Youtube.com

  • A minimum of a full 360' rotation of your model must be rendered
  • Can include additional closeup turntable views to showcase feature detail work
  • Can include other camera moves that help show off you work.
  • Any additional background or graphic text can be used (this is not part of the judging process though)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FAQ:

How do I notify Admin that I have submitted my work to the forum?
Method 1: Simply click on the PM button under the Admin profile picture to the right of the forum here

Method 2: Follow this link to Admin's profile page and then select the write message button.

How do I embed my movie into my forum thread? (example for vimeo.com)
Once you have uploaded your movie to Veoh.com. Simply goto the URL where your movie is located
Code:

http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/animation+movie+trailer#watch%3Dv644340T7Esk8Jg

You need to copy the video number from the end of the URL. Make sure not to grab the % symbol too.
Code:

3Dv644340T7Esk8Jg

Now all you need to do is paste this video number inside the following code
Code:

[video type=veoh]<insert number here>[/video]

That it! Now just add the code to your thread. The code shown below is the same code that is used to display the movie below
Code:

[video type=veoh]v644340T7Esk8Jg[/video]

Good luck with all your entries!
cheers

Ok, I was unaware of this issue. If you have difficulties using Veoh.com please use Youtube instead. I will amend the first post to mention this.

The veoh.com site seems to be working fine from my end. A few people have mentioned there are a few country based restrictions.

As for Vimeo.com, you can use this but make sure NOT to display any titles or reference to this competition or links to your own site. They don't allow this and we would like to adhere to their "terms of use".

i checked the "terms and conditions" section and couldnt find what you mention. where did you see this ? i see many people hosting their demo reels with their website links on it.

Demo Reels are different, they are classified as private artwork. For sites like cgCoach.com, Vimeo hosting should be to an absolute minimum. This is why we are asking people to submit using Veoh.com or Youtube.com.

We have to make sure we are not using Vimeo.com to promote any entries into this competition. If Vimeo.com is the only option you can use for hosting, then please make sure not to mention cgCoach.com at all.

Once we've notified ADMIN from this page, will we hear from anyone to know they go the message and that we are all set with nothing more to fear?!

Yes, I will make sure to email notifying that we have received an entry.

I'm also creating a page that will display ALL entries. You will be able to check that you're entry is officially displayed for the judges.

I have received 1 entry from you so far

cheers
